Illusion Host Dynamo Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 6, 2008)--One week after scoring the first goal in franchise history, the West Virginia Illusion look for another first Saturday against the Carolina Dynamo: a win. Kick-off from Duvall-Rosier Field in Fairmont is 7:30 p.m.

The Illusion (0-4-0) came up just short last time out against the Carolina RailHawks, falling 2-1. Kendra Graber scored West Virginia’s lone goal; Sydney Metheny hit the crossbar in the final minutes.

The team will be without the services of several starters this weekend due to prior obligations, leaving head coach Joe Dorini with a short bench.

“Especially with the hot weather coming, just making sure the girls will last the full 90 minutes will be a challenge. Other girls will have to step up,” said Dorini.

The Dynamo (1-4-1) picked up their first win of the year Wednesday, defeating Bradenton 3-1. Hailey Beam and Taylor Rose Revito each had a goal and an assist.

Beam leads the team in scoring with three goals and two assists. Revito has two goals and an assist on the season.

“I’m excited to play Carolina because they are the club I used to play for and still hold strong ties with. I’m looking forward to seeing them on Saturday,” said Dorini, who played for the USL Division Two champion Dynamo men’s team in 2003.

Three goalkeepers have split time between the pipes for the Dynamo. Laura Morse, who picked up the win in goal for Wake Forest when they defeated West Virginia last fall, has played the lion’s share of the minutes, making 23 saves in three starts.

Tickets are available for $5 for adults and $3 for youth and students. Any youth player who shows up in their club jersey will be admitted free.
